Illinois

I will be traveling through the middle of Illinois to get to MO. I don't want to miss anything along the way. So if any of you have any recommendations of sites a Laura girl would like, let me know!

Have to make up my mind. And you know I wanna stop at all the cool historic places...just as soon as I know what they are. ;)

Project Laura

What is this? And Why?

My Project Laura goal is to visit all of Laura's homesites in one fell swoop. To go on a journey to 'see' someone that I love and has meant so much to me, just as I am on a journey to recovery to reclaim my body and spirit in the aftermath of my assaults. I want this to be a positive experience. And I'm hoping for some help along the way. Right now I'm looking for help covering the cost of travel. I will be documenting my 'travel research' as I go. This is about more than 'just Laura' and this blog will reflect that.

I hope to see some of you someday. Because I will let you know when I'm going!

Goal: 2 week long trip to 'hang out' at the "Laura" sites. WI, MN,KS,IA,MO,SD with many a historical stop along the way. I'd like to camp out some, enjoy nature as Laura would and had to sometimes, as well as explore some currently preserved historical sites around the nation- some of which are Bed&Breakfasts- it doesn't get any better than that!

Donations will go to the accomplishment of this trip. With luck, you'll get to see where your money is going.

About Project Safe

I'm no longer safe in the place that is supposed to be my home. And since I spend more time in therapy than I do working, and since I lost my apartment due to recovering from the aftermath of a brutal assault.....it's going to be very difficult for me to just get a new place on my own. But I need one. Because I am not safe here. Working part time and the studio is clearly not cutting it. I can't wait until I can find a full time job. I wake up screaming every morning, and shake when I hear footsteps. Living amongst your worst abusers is hell.

I have to get out of here ASAP. Which means I'm going to need help scraping together security deposit, first n' last month's rent, all that good stuff. So that I can start to feel safe again. I'm not going to be able to really move forward until I have at least that much stability in my life.
